Trunk & Shoulder Girdle: NDT Clinical Manangement of the UE
Nov. 15-16 (Sun-Mon): Washington, DC Faculty: Tina Weisman, OT. More Information
This workshop is designed for pediatric therapists working with children with postural and UE dysfunction. The course content will emphasize the biomechanical alignment of the trunk & shoulder girdle in both weight‐bearing and in space. Emphasis on the development of postural control and trunk and scapula mobility will be demonstrated via lecture and facilitation labs. Participants will gain an understanding of the neurophysiological principles for strengthening the postural system, in conjunction with hands-on NDT treatment strategies for improving postural control in the trunk and shoulder girdle, that can immediately be applied to your clinical practice. This will be accomplished through lectures, slides, movement labs and treatment demonstrations. Level of content: Introductory to intermediate. Participants should have an understanding of typical vs. atypical development and experience working with children with neurological impairments. Target audience: Licensed OT, PT and speech
therapists, COTA’s and PTA’s. Strengthinging the Postural System

MFR & NDT
NEW DATE: Fri-Sat: April 9-10, 2010 Children's Specialized Hospital, Mountainside, NJ Faculty: Gail, Ritchie, OT, NDTA Instructor, OT Instructor. Approved by NJSBTBOE for 1.6 CEU's / 16 contact hrs. More Information
Fascia is a web of elastic tissue, which infuses continuously throughout the body. When atypical postures and movement strategies alter the integrity of our postural control and alignment the fascia adapts by contracting and bonding. This formation of fascia attaches itself to neighboring structures in an attempt to support the structural alignment in a maladaptive way.
Forearm, Wrist & Hand: An NDT Approach
March 7-8, 2010; Washington, DC April 16-17, 2010: Scranton, PA April 25-25, 2010: White Plains, NY Faculty: Tina Weisman, OT NDTA Instructor Approved by NJSPTBOE for 1.3 CEU's/13 contact hours More Information
This workshop is designed for pediatric occupational & physical therapists working with children with UE dysfunction. The course will emphasize the biomechanical alignment of the shoulder girdle, UE and hand, necessary for optimal fine motor function. We will analyze the movement components needed for grasp and digital manipulation in children with neuro-motor impairments & developmental delay. NDT principles and treatment techniques will be applied for facilitation of upper extremity function needed for refined hand skills. Specific analysis of distal muscle architecture and treatment principles appropriate to achieve optimal UE function will be demonstrated. This is a hands-on course that unlocks the
biomechanics needed for hand function.
